“Things for women have changed from time to time. They are able and more powerful executors of tasks than men, given a chance. Unfortunately, women are today subjected to harassment and are vulnerable in society,” opined Tata Consultancy Services Advisor T Hanuman Chowdary here on Friday.
“Things for women have changed from time to time. They are able and more powerful executors of tasks than men, given a chance. Unfortunately, women are today subjected to harassment and are vulnerable in society,” opined Tata Consultancy Services Advisor T Hanuman Chowdary here on Friday.
Hanuman Chowdary speaking at the one day seminar orgnaised by Montessori Mahila Kalasala on ‘Problems and Prospects of Indian Girls Today’ stated the men will only succeed where women are worshipped and respected.
From the days when girl children are restricted to four walls of a house, the era has changed to a place where women are leading the higher houses of law, judiciary, politics, business and many such aspects which was once considered a men’s play field.
Even if we take our mythology, there are prominent chapters on Sita, Anasuya, Rukmini and Satyabhama who are still an inspiration for women, he added. Chairperson of Montessori Mahila Kalasala V Koteswaramma speaking on the occasion said that topic of the seminar is very relevant for the students to understand their capabilities and hindrances.
From the time of child marriages to sati system and widow-remarriage, things for women have changed in terms of social, cultural and economical ways. Education is the only tool that enables a woman turn into a power. Despite holding strong positions across the world, their safety and dignity is still a question, she felt. A conclusion of opinions discussed during the seminar will be drafted for further action, she added.
AIDWA general secretary D Rama Devi, vice president of Montessori institution Sheela Ranjani, former Reader in Telugu G Regina and others spoke on the occasion. A dance ballet performed by the school students depicting the fate of a girl child provoked a thought among the onlookers.
