Kuchipudi performances enthral

The Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh organised a dance recital at Kaladarshani auditorium on Sunday evening. The disciples of ‘Natyacharya’ Sappa Siva Kumar presented the classical dances.

B Lakshmi Vaschala, S Sashichandana presented individual solo performances 'Sankara Srigirinilaya’ and ‘Bhamakalapam’ which were appreciated by the audience. The other performances like ‘Ananda Tandavam’, ‘Siva Stuti’, Annamacharya keerthanas were performed by Sri Lakshmi, Vennela, Bhavya, Meghana, Sri Valli and others.

The spectators enjoyed the group classical dance item ‘ Jayamu jayamu Lalita Kala’ wherein about 33 artists had participated. Sudharani supported the performances with her melodious voice and Sappa Siva Kumar ably supported with nattuvangam. Vijaya Kumar on Mrudangam, Murali on violin and sitaram on flute supported the performance.

The Department of culture is failing to publicise the weekly programmes well in advance to attract crowds. Most of the art lovers do not know about the programmes scheduled. It is suggested to announce a monthly schedule and for the benefit Vijayawada and surrounding connoisseurs.
