Chittoor: In-charge Mayor Subramanyam said that the Chittoor Municipal Corporation (CMC) had allocated Rs 2.75 crore for developing the tourist spots in city as per the instructions of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
A unanimous resolution was passed in the Municipal Council meeting held on last Monday for sanctioning of funds. Subramanyam said instructions were given to the Engineering department to execute the proposed works at the earliest.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Wednesday, Subramanyam said that the TDP was committed to develop the city as model one. He said that the Chief Minister had taken initiative to include Chittoor city in the list of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme. He said efforts are on to achieve the target in property tax collection including water tax with the active support of corporators and corporation officials.
As part of Kattamanchi tank beautification, the In-charge Mayor said works were taken up for removal of silt. He said farmers are allowed to dig the silt from the tank for using it as fertiliser in their farm fields. He stated that corporation officials have initiated measures for maintenance of traffic
signals in the city.
Special drive taken up for cleaning the drainages, he said adding mineral water is being supplied to residents in all divisions through mineral water plants.
Subramanyam said a commercial complex would be constructed at a vacant site in the premises of old municipal bus station. Earlier, he inspected ongoing silt removal work at Kattamanchi tank along with Municipal Commissioner Suresh. He instructed the Municipal Commissioner to complete pending works related to tank by the end of April.
