Hyderabad: State government cleared three files, paving way to appoint about 1,728 posts to strengthen the Vijayawada Police Commisisonerate (VPC), city security wing and policing in the newly created Thulluru Revenue Sub-division, falling under Capital Region Development Area in Guntur district.
According to two separate directives on Friday, the Finance department has given its approval for 583 posts for Vijayawada city security wing, 471 to strengthen the VPC and 674 posts for Thulluru Revenue Sub-division.
The decision to sanction new posts in VPC has been taken on submission of a report from the Home department claiming that the Vijayawada city has gained prominence following the bifurcation of the united AP.
And, the camp office of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is functioning from the city. Also, number of VVIPs and VIPs, including the State ministers were camping in Vijayawada.
Besides, all the major wings and departments of the government were in the process of establishing their offices in city. However, the present structure of the VPC would not be in a position to cope up with this sudden increase in the load and the policing on ground have been suffering because of the lack of supervision and engagement of the police forces in bandobust-related duties, the Home department reported pointed out.
Also, the State Director General of Police has sent proposals for creation of additional posts for strengthening of the VPC and for re-organisation of zones, establishment of two traffic police stations, cyber crime police station, strengthening of CSB, commissioner task force, PCR and supervisory officers in Vijayawada city. Taking these requirements into consideration and to strengthen the VPC, the government has given its clearance to create 471posts.
As part of the move, the VPC would get one additional Commissioner of Police of IGP rank, two joint Commissioners of DIG rank, three deputy commissioners of police, four deputy commissioners of Superintendent of Police rank, five additional superintendents of police of the assistant commissioner’s rank, seven circle inspectors, eight sub-inspectors and other subordinate and administrative staff.
Similarly, out of the total 29 villages of the proposed State capital of Amaravati, 19 villages would be falling under the newly-created Thulluru Revenue Sub-division, falling under Guntur Urban district.
To strengthen the policing in the area, the government has cleared a proposal to fill up a deputy superintendent of police, two circle inspector, and three sub-inspectors, besides other subordinate and administration staff.
