Visakhapatnam: Tense moments gripped Andhra University College of Engineering, after students of the integrated engineering courses (4-year B Tech + 2-year M Tech programme) staged a mass protest near the Principal’s office on Wednesday, alleging partiality in valuation and the treatment meted at them.

In a protest, two students climbed the terrace and threatened to jump. About 1,500 students boycotted classes and gathered in groups at the Principal’s office, demanding justice. Later, vice-chancellor Prof. EA Narayana and AU Engineering College Principal, Prof. Ch V Ramachandra Murthy reached out to the students and discussed their issues.

They promised that the varsity would promote the students into M Tech programme, even if they have backlogs in their B Tech and will address rest of the issues within the next 10 days.
