Rewarding artistic talent
It has become a custom to honour distinguished personalities during ‘Ugadi’ celebrations every year. This is being observed by Kalamanjari cultural organisation for the last seven years.
It has become a custom to honour distinguished personalities during ‘Ugadi’ celebrations every year. This is being observed by Kalamanjari cultural organisation for the last seven years. This year the organisers chose 11 eminent individuals in different fields and the awards were presented on Thursday evening at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College.
While addressing the gathering literary exponent Dr Gumma Sambasiva Rao said that it is a welcome sight to see that talent is being recognised and awarded on an auspicious occasion . Leading advocate Vara Prasad said that Kalamanjari has chosen the best out of best for these awards.
Another advocate and president of Kalamanjari Akkipeddi Venkata Ramana presided over the meeting and expressed that the awardees should serve more in their respective fields to promote ulture and traditions in the society.
Modili Sanjeevi (writer), Ch Baburao, M Sambasiva Rao (actor), Burra Padmanabha Sarma (Harikatha), Vijayakumar (Mrudangam), N Ch Buchayacharyulu (Music), Pilla Umamaheswara Patrudu (Dance), Dr Sasri (Literature), Talluri Suri, K. Rani and Varaprasad were felicitated on this occasion.
The dais was shared by dignitaries like Polavarapu Sobhanadri, P Krishnaji, Vemuri Basava koteswra Rao, Viswanath, PVL Nrisimham, Venigalla Bhaskar and complemented the organisers and also the awardees. The programme was organised by Chivukula Haragopal.
Earlier dance, music and drama pieces were presented by Akhila and Nikhila (Annamacharya Keerthanalu), Maddali Sai Chandika (Dance) and Vemuri Nageswara Sarma (Drama).
In the similar way, another organisation Savitri Kala Peetham also gave away awards to Premji (Music), Bobbillapadu Gopalakrishna Sai (drama) and other personalities like G Subrahmanya Pattabhi Sastry (Panchanga kartha), M Pitchaiah Naidu (social worker), K Nagamalleswara RAo (Panchanga kartha), Padugula Ramakrishana (Politics).
Dr Turlapati Kutumba Rao presided over the meeting and hailed the services rendering by the Savitri Kala Peetham and congratulated the awardees. MLA Gadde Ramamohan, Senior High court GVNRSSS Varaprasad, Industrialist Koganti Satyanarayana, Advocate V Hazaratayya Gupta and others were present on the dias.
