Vizianagaram: The State government has embarked on the ambitious task of developing the historic Pydithalli Ammavaru Temple in Vizianagaram.
The Endowments department has sent a proposal for the renovation of the temple and construction of cottages at a cost of Rs 17 crore to attract both the domestic and foreign tourists as well as the locals.
Assistant Commissioner of Endowments K Bhanu Raja said the 270-year-old temple shrine would be given a facelift with additional facilities. He said the temple management had already sought a consultancy to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) in this regard.
He said thousands of devotees visit the temple every day. Promising to develop the ancient temple on all fronts, he said it was decided to provide ‘parking facilities for pilgrims, queue lines, barricades and provision of additional facilities for conduct of various rituals at the shrine would also be taken up.
He said that the temple management had decided to develop temple to provide adequate facilities for the pilgrims without touching the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.
