Two consecutive years of drought, unseasonal rains in rabi season and falling food prices in global markets have driven farmers to desperation. Turning agriculture around should be the top priority to bring agriculture back on track in 2016.
Two consecutive years of drought, unseasonal rains in rabi season and falling food prices in global markets have driven farmers to desperation. Turning agriculture around should be the top priority to bring agriculture back on track in 2016. TiE Hyderabad is organising Agri Innovation Summit to discuss the possibilities.
India became the world’s fastest-growing economy in 2015. Indian agriculture, however, fared much worse. Agriculture grew only by 0.2 per cent in FY15. With an objective in mind to turn agriculture around TiE Hyderabad is organising Agri Innovation Summit on April 14 at Park Hyatt, Hyderabad.
The share of agricultural products/agriculture and allied sectors in the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which was 51.9 per cent in 1950-51, had come down to 13.7 per cent in 2012-13. That contribution is abysmally low for a sector that employs about 50 per cent of the country’s population.
The Agri Innovation Summit aims to bring together the policy makers and influencers, entrepreneurs, academician, researcher, progressive farmer, investor, all under one roof to deliberate, discuss and find ways and means to alleviate the pain points and bring back agriculture to its glorious past said Sreedevi Devireddy, Executive Director TiE Hyderabad The Agri Innovation Summit will showcase entrepreneurs in the Agri-Tech industry and share their success stories and challenges for the benefit of the participants and the peers in the industry.
Some of the eminent members who will be deliberating on the current challenges in the Agri Industry during this summit include Dr Kalpana Sastry, Joint Director, National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Vijayaraghavan, Chairman, Sathguru Management Consultants, RS Nanda, Ex COO Nagarjuna Fertilisers, Ram Koundinya, Independent Director ,Axis Bank and Director General ABLE-AG, Gopinath Koneti, Group Executive Vice President, Yes Bank, Kannan Raghunathan, Director, Sathguru Management Consultants, MCV Parasad an agriculturist from Madanapalle.
