Raptadu (Anantapur): A massive public meeting will be organised at Raptadu Assembly constituency on April 20 to bring pressure on the ruling TDP government to retain the original design of the Handri Neeva project which envisages supply of 23 tmcft of water for the district, according to YSRCP Raptadu Assembly constituency coordinator Prakash Reddy.

Speaking at a meeting here on Tuesday, Prakash Reddy said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had issued a GO to change the design of the project and minimise irrigation acreage to the district while the original design of the project envisaged supply of 23 tmcft of water to the district.

He also accused the Chief Minister of changing the original design of the project proposed by former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to wet all the dry lands in the district. The old contracts were cancelled to benefit the TDP contractors to an extent of Rs 200 crore, he added.
