Visakhapatnam: A team of Visakha Steel Employees’ Congress (INTUC), recognised union of Vizag Steel Plant led by general secretary Rajsekhar Mantri, submitted a 58-point charter of demands to steel plant director (Personnel) G B S Prasad recently seeking to convene a meeting to redress the long pending demands. Presenting the memorandum, Rajsekhar Mantri told the director to see that all issues mentioned must be settled in a month by convening a meeting with the union leaders failing which they will be forced to launch agitation.

Some of the demands include steel plant should not be disinvested or privatised, permanent water sources should be made to ensure uninterrupted water supply to the plant, 20 per cent HRA should be paid on revised basic to all employees, 50 per cent of displaced persons should be recruited compulsorily in executive and non-executive cadre, candidates from local colleges and universities should be allowed for campus interviews, age limit should be enhanced by three years in recruitment of all categories, including junior trainees and plant attendants..
