Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to prepare summer action plan to meet drinking water, fodder shortage. He said that officials should act in a coordination to resolve water problem in rural and urban areas. Addressing officials through a video conference from his residence here on Sunday, the CM said officials should take initiative to supply drinking water to both people and cattle.

He said there should not be fodder shortage in 13 districts and asked the officials to set up a fodder bank by taking on lease necessary land. Naidu said that officials of water resources, NREGS and agricultural departments should work in coordination to achieve the 10 lakh farm ponds target in the State to preserve rain water.

He said computerisation of crop area and pattern of crops would help the officials to monitor the cultivation and suggest steps to protect the crops. He said as the procurement of tobacco came down, the issue was brought to the Central government. The CM asked the officials to discuss with the central government to provide assistance to palm oil farmers and asked officials to provide remunerative price.

As Rabi paddy purchases kick-offs in Nellore and twin Godavari districts, officials should monitor the purchase of paddy from farmers and to provide remunerative price, he added. Naidu also asked the horticulture officials to upload the data of horticulture online. The CM directed the urban development authorities to take steps to supply drinking water and said that there should not be drinking water shortage in urban areas.
