“Preserving heritage of the country is responsibility of every individual. One should contribute their efforts in preserving the rich heritage and culture of our community” said Director of International Institute for Inclusive Museum and Advisor to Amaravati Heritage City, Amareswar Galla.

He addressed the gathering on ‘How to preserve our heritage’ at the Cultural Centre of Vijayawada (CCV) on the occasion of World Heritage Day celebrations here on Monday. He lamented about how the younger generation is ignoring history, architecture, sculptures, lifestyle and heritage of the country, and stressed on the need for protecting the heritage for future generations to come.

Head of the department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology at Acharya Nagarjuna University, Prof V Anuradha said that there are many countries which do not have any heritage sites or history. India is one amongst the best heritage sites in the world, which is why many foreigners frequent the country. The constructions and their history have to be preserved for keepsake, she added.

A special exhibition on ‘Preserve Heritage for Prosperity’ to suit the theme was displayed at the Aakriti Art Gallery, which was inaugurated after a ‘Walk for Heritage’ that concluded at Nataraja Caves in Moghalrajupuram from the CCV.

Also, the event showcased the intense workmanship of Rashtrapathi Award winner, UNESCO national merit and Limka Book of Records holder K Siva Prasada Reddy’s Kalamkari art on a cloth that is 47 feet in length with a width of 11 feet. Historian and Heritage Activist from Machilipatnam, Md Silar was felicitated on the occasion.
