State-level bullock cart race was organised, as has been the practice during the last eight years as part of the Srirama Navami celebrations, by farmers from East and West Godavari, Krishna and Vizianagaram districts at Chebrolu in Gollaprolu mandal of East Godavari district on Thursday. 

Pitapuram: State-level bullock cart race was organised, as has been the practice during the last eight years as part of the Srirama Navami celebrations, by farmers from East and West Godavari, Krishna and Vizianagaram districts at Chebrolu in Gollaprolu mandal of East Godavari district on Thursday.

  • 45 pairs of bulls participate in the race
  • A large number of people from surrounding villages line up on either side of the track to witness the cart race

Farmers in large numbers from about 40 adjoining villages witnessed the event, braving severe heat. Legislator A V S N Varma inaugurated the race in which 18 carts (senior) and 27 carts (junior) participated. Kakinada MP Thota Narasimham distributed prizes to the winners, with Nanaji acting as the judge. The organisers said the race is conducted to boost animal production and related activities among farmers.
