Landlord kicks poor man at public hearing
A landlord of Momidi village in Chillakur mandal of Potti Sriramulu Nellore district behaved in a high-handed manner by kicking a poor man on Saturday. The Joint Collector, a Sub-Collector and several police officials remained mute spectators to the ghastly incident, which shocked the onlookers.

The incident occurred when a public opinion was being gathered by the officials of the Pollution Control Board for silica mining, following an application submitted by Kumaraswamy Reddy Mines and Minerals. Representatives of the company had already managed to prevail upon many residents by offering them allurements, making 70 per cent of them agree to the mining.
However, some villagers opposed it. Enraged by this, the landlord delivered a resounding kick on one of them, shocking both officials and the police. The officials were forced to call off the exercise.
