The daily evening tour package that was asked to be taken out by Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) by the State government in 2014 has come to a quick halt after the Corporation failed to attract crowds. The procured 18 -seater luxury AC coach is kept aside since the Corporation is not taking steps to re-introduce the facility that once provided a getaway for citizens and gave visitors a chance to see the city.

The government was keen on the ‘Evening City Tour’ programme of the APTDC as it had the potential to keep people engaged in activities of the Corporation, which contributes to the tourism sector. Designed to explore the outer parts of the city, the evening tour used to take people till the Mangalagiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, shopping centre at Mangalagiri, Haailand and come back to Bhavani Island for a dinner on boat.

The ticket was priced at Rs 400 per person. An insider of the department said, “Lack of promotion can be the main reason behind the failure of evening city tour. The facility should reach out to people to be successful and it takes time. Also, the locations which are covered under the city tour are frequented by citizens, which could be another factor.”
