Container service from Kakinada Deep Water Port to Chicago begins

The Kakinada Deep Water Port added one more feather to its cap in the form of container service. The 1,150 Teus capacity vessel M V Sonar Batam, which left the Kakinada Deep Water Port (KDWP) late Monday with 103 X 20’ dry laden containers to destinations including Dakar, Cotonou, Conakry and to Chicago in US after extending the services at Colombo in Sri Lanka en route.

The much awaited new service is expected to encourage importers apart from exporters particularly those in medium and small trade in catering to their needs as the services will have larger reach including new and emerging markets in Europe and several Asian countries.
