Chittoor: Joint Director for Agriculture N Vijaya Kumar stressed that the farmers should make use of welfare schemes meant for them. The State government has decided to create awareness among farmers on adopting latest technologies for improving their agricultural produce at different levels, he added.
The Agricultural department has opened organic trade fair here on Thursday in which more than 200 farmers across the district have participated. Addressing the farmers, Vijaya Kumar stated that there is no demand for the Indian agricultural products in the international market due to various factors.
“The Agriculture department has introduced several initiatives for getting the reasonable price to farmers for their agriculture produce,” he added. Vijaya Kumar further said that the farmers should opt for alternative cropping pattern in view of the prevailing drought conditions in the district.
He stated that 54 Mandals in the district are declared drought-hit while steps have been initiated to reschedule the crop loans in the banks. He assured that input subsidy would be distributed to the farmers shortly. Joint Director of Animal Husbandry Srinivasa Rao explained the various activities of the department in which the small and marginal farmers are being benefitted.
He stressed the farmers should keep a special watch on the changes in the dairy development. Agricultural Assistant Director Nitya Menon and others were present.
