Over 200 students took part in a career guidance programme organised by the Merrimack College at Hotel Taj Gateway here on Thursday. Interacting with the students, Merrimack College Director, Science and Engineering Programmes, Maureen called upon the students to take up systematic preparation and scientific planning before embarking for education in foreign universities.

She felt that Indian students are under the wrong impression that merely pursuing education in any foreign university will guarantee them success. She suggested that the decision to go abroad should be preceded by a conscious effort by the students in the selection of institutions that will fulfill their career requirements.

Several factors like accreditation of the institutions, quality of teaching and research, student-teacher ratio, fee structure, scholarships and placement opportunities have to be checked by the students before taking the jump. As many as 30 students from South India have joined our college in the last academic year.

Buoyed by the tremendous response we have come here to guide the students and make their dream true of studying abroad, she added. Merrimack College recruitment in-charge George, B Anand Kumar, programme coordinator and others were also present at the programme.
