Thrust on water conservation: Narayana
Municipal Administration Minister P Narayana said the State government was according top priority to water conservation measures and promised to provide water to poor communities for irrigation purposes. He participated in several development programmes in the district on Friday.Â

Addressing a meeting in Pellakur, he said out of envisaged target of 75, 710 soak pits, 2,263 were completed and 31,444 were still in progress. He said the groundwater levels were depleting rapidly and appealed to the people at large to take part in water conservation measures.
In one of programmes in Kothuru, YSRCP MLA K Sanjeevaiah and Pellakur Mandal Parishad president Satyanarayana Reddy lashed out at the Minister for allegedly flouting norms of protocol and expressed disappointment over them being not invited. A verbal duel ensued between the Minister and the MLA. However, the Minister addressed the meeting undeterred even as they protested in front of the dais.
