YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's decision to launch a three-day fast from May 16 - 18 seemed to have had an impact on AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. YS Jagan's protest is to highlight the illegal construction of irrigation projects by the Telangana government. AP Cabinet meeting conducted on Monday held discussions on Jagan’s proposed fast along with the Telangana government's irrigation projects.

Speaking to the media, Chandrababu said that he would be writing a letter to the Centre complaining against the Telangana government over its construction of various projects on Krishna and Godavari rivers violating the provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act. Chandrababu further said that any project should be taken up as per the allocations made by the various tribunals and in consultation with the riparian States as the indiscriminate construction of projects will have serious effect on the irrigation sector in AP.
