With the special status issue turning into a burning topic in the state, the protests have intensified in Anantapur as the Andhra Intellectuals\' Forum president Chalasani Srinivas launched an indefinite hunger-strike demanding that the Centre fulfill the promise made to AP at the time of bifurcation.

CPM and YSRCP also have extended their support to Chalasani Srinivas' protest. The Special Status Sadhana Samithi committee members including Shivaji have called up all the parties to come together and put pressure on the centre to fight for justice towards the state.

Chalasani Srinivas asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit Anantapur district and North Coastal districts of AP that have been facing hardships. Shivaji criticized the AP MP's for not able to fight towards the concerns of the state.
