Jewellers do brisk business in city
On the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya, the jewelry shops were seen doing brisk business in the city. MG Road, Besant road Rajagopalachari Street and the lines of Old city which are synonymous for jewellry and precious stone work shops were swarmed up with customers.

Speaking to the Hans India, showroom manager of a jewelry shop in MG Road said, “We expected a drop in sales since the wedding season is off and prices of the yellow metal has also gone up, drastically. However, our repeat customers made it a point to buy coins and small pieces of jewelry on this day too.”
B Marthamma, a customer who got her jewelry delivered on this Akshaya Tritiya day said, “We received information through phone that the jewelers are offering this concept of pre-booking jewelry for Akshaya Tritiya. We booked a pair of bangles before and got them delivered on Monday.” The efforts of jewelers who have come up with exciting discounts on the gold and diamond jewelry, paid off.
