AP Secretariat: Worker dies after falling in concrete mixer
In a tragic incident, a worker accidentally fell in to a concrete cement mixer of L&T contractors being used for the construction of temporary Secretariat building on Monday night.
In a tragic incident, a worker accidentally fell into a concrete cement mixer of L&T contractors being used for the construction of temporary Secretariat building on Monday night.
The worker died on the spot and the fellow workers, enraged by the incident attacked the police who tried to extricate the body, with stones. The situation turned worse as the workers clashed with the police and destroyed all the machinery on the site.
Stating that there is no proper security for them at the site, the workers of L&T company who are all from Jharkhand and Uttarakhand areas demanded the declaration of immediate compensation for the worker, Devender, who belonged to UP.
However, the workers went on a rampage after the compensation announcement was not made and set fire to the ambulance that was to take Devender's body. They even destroyed the furniture and vehicles at the L&T office in Velagapudi. Police who tried to intervene in the situation were not able to handle the situation.
