Tirumala: The three-day annual religious event of Salakatla Padmavathi Parinayotsavam off to a colourful start in the finely decked "Swarnima Mandapam" at the lush green Narayanagiri Gardens in Tirumala on Sunday.

The processional deity of Lord Malayappa Swamy was taken to the Narayanagiri Gardens on Gaja Vahana on the first day, while His two consorts adorned with special jewels followed Him to the tastefully decorated Narayanagiri Gardens on golden palanquins.

Traditional events which are usually performed during the Hindu weddings including Edurkolu, Pubantata etc. have been performed which has provided a feast to the eyes of thousands of pilgrims who converged in the gardens to witness the celestial fete.

On the other hand, the glittering golden wedding hall concept -the "Swarnima Mandapam" set up to host the three day celestial wedding ceremony-Padmavathi Parinayotsavam amazed the pilgrims as it has added the extra glory to the festival.

While the entire premises was reverberated to the melodious notes with new range of advanced sound system set up by the Radio and Broadcasting Department of TTD.

TTD Executive Officer Dr D Sambasiva Rao, Tirumala JEO KS Sreenivasa Raju, Temple Deputy Executive Officer Rama Rao, Peishkar R Selvam, Parpathyedar Doraswamy Naik and a large number of devotees took part in this celestial event.
