“I was inspired by the dialogues of ‘Haysa Brahma’ Jandhyala and started to scribble some dialogues with a small story line.

“I was inspired by the dialogues of ‘Haysa Brahma’ Jandhyala and started to scribble some dialogues with a small story line. That clicked and was selected for the comedy playlet competitions conducted by Sumadhura Kala Niketan, Vijayawada. It’s my first playlet performed in a fully crowded auditorium,” said play writer Behara Venkata Shyam Prasad in an interview with The Hans India.

BV Shyam Prasad at present works in the Electronics department and also holds an honorary post as an employee’s secretary. Social service, acting and writing are Behara’s hobbies. He gives credit to his mother Pushpavathi saying bthat she was his first teacher as she used to tell many stories in his childhood. She planted the best seed in the Siam Prasad’s brain to write plays and stories.

While studying in SRR & CVR Government College, Shyam acted in many plays. SRR & CVR college lecturer G Radar Krishna Murthy was guru in acting for Shyam. Recollecting those days he said that many of today’s prominent persons like Totapalli Madhu, noted advocate Gowtham reddy, former mayor Tadi Sakuntala and others were his batch mates.

Shyam Prasad likes comedy. He believes in the collective efforts to achieve any kind of goals. Shyam Prasad started ‘Geetanjali art theaters’ and produced over 9 playlets which bagged many awards. ‘pagati veshagallu’, ‘Manasa Kavvinchake’, ‘Okka kshanam’, ‘Panigrahanam’, ‘Gurivinda ginjalu’, ‘Challe badayi’, ‘Anta Bhrama’, ‘Ma avida Bangaram’ and ‘Pelli kani Prasad’ are most popular among his scripts. Shyam Prasad’s brother BV Rama Rao is also a noted dialogue writer for movies and TV shows.

Shyam Prasad said that his favorite writers at present are Veerla Vara Prasad and yesteryears writer Gollapudi Maruthi Rao, Jandhyala and Adivisnu. As a part of social service, he clubbed with ‘Telugu Artistes Federation’ to serve for the welfare of the artiste’s and works towards to uplift the living standards of needy artistes and their families.
