Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths led by DSP K Ramakrishna Prasad raided the office and houses of M Vijayalakshmi, project director of Woman and Child Welfare Department in the city, on Friday and unearthed assets and wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income. Vijayalakshmi was the first woman officer in a city to be booked by the ACB.  

Visakhapatnam: Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths led by DSP K Ramakrishna Prasad raided the office and houses of M Vijayalakshmi, project director of Woman and Child Welfare Department in the city, on Friday and unearthed assets and wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income. Vijayalakshmi was the first woman officer in a city to be booked by the ACB.

The officials told reporters that they have issued proceeding under Section 41 of CrPC for amassing the wealth. The raids were simultaneously conducted at eight places, including five places in Vizag city that included her office, at the residence of her daughter in Bengaluru, her mother-in-law’s house in Kanumolu in Ongole and at her relatives’ house in Kavali in Nellore.

Prasad said their teams seized documents pertaining to a two-storeyed building, one independent house and 750 square yards site at PM Palem, two plots measuring 784 and 119 square yards at Bhogapuram area in Vizianagaram, one luxury apartment at Bakkannapalem, one apartment near Peda Waltair, one shop and one outhouse in Kirlampudi area, 2.71 acres at Ellamanchili and 1.71 acre at Kanumolu in Ongole.

The ACB officials also seized bank deposits worth Rs 15.5 lakh apart from 1,300 gm gold ornaments. The market value of the seized property is said to be Rs 20 crore.
