Addressing news reporters at a programme here on Saturday, Dr Naveen said that Kamineni Hospitals had gained the distinction of performing the first ever epilepsy surgery successfully in the State.

According to him, twenty-year-old Seetharamanjaneyulu of Machilipatnam who suffered with seizures due to nerve cell disorder called as Temporal Lobe Epilepsy suffered for a long time.

He works as an electrician in Hyderabad and encountered near-death experiences owing to the phenomenon. He was brought to Kamineni Hospitals in the city near Poranki where his brain cells’ function was critically examined. Later, an operation was conducted.

Lack of awareness can be seen as the reason behind complications caused due to epilepsy. For a person who follows strict diet and sleep routine and undergoes medication for about two to three years can overcome this disorder. About 70 per cent of the epilepsy cases can be restored with medicines and the rest require surgery.
