Eluru: The Jangareddigudem police on Monday arrested a goldsmith Musharaf Mulla, who allegedly escaped with some gold, and recovered 591 gm of jewellery worth Rs 17.2 lakh from his possession.

Addressing the media at district police office here on Monday, SP Bhaskar Bhushan said the accused, a native of Kolkata, had been doing gold jewellery repair works for the last eight years in Jangareddigudem. He allegedly took some jewellery from the shop owners and escaped.

Following a complaint lodged by the gold traders, police team led by Jangaredigudem DSP J Venkat Rao and CI G Srinivas arrested Musharaf Mulla while he was trying to escape from his house. The SP complimented the police for nabbing the accused.
