​Nellore: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said his Ministry was according top priority to Andhra Pradesh in sanctioning projects
Speaking to press persons here in Nellore on Thursday, he clarified that he was no way connected to issues pertaining to Special Status to the State. He said Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu was looking after issues connected to Special Status.

Vizag has also been given smart city status, besides some defence projects,” he said.

He clarified that the State was being given special treatment in terms of development projects and funds. He denied possibility of Defence Academy for Andhra Pradesh and said the Ministry would instead consider Sainik schools.

On power situation in the State, he said coal storage capacity was increased to 30 days. He suggested the State government to take leverage of high temperatures being recorded in the State to generate solar power.

Shifting his focus to national issues, he said there was significant dip in the number of instances of infiltration at Pakistan and China borders.

He said fishermen in coastal areas would be given opportunity in Coastal Security system and the issue was being discussed
at higher level.

He added that entire world was looking towards India as a safe haven for their investments.

In a separate meeting in Nellore town, he came down heavily on the UPA regime, lambasting that there was no hope for
commoner during Congress 10-year rule.

Scams, corruption, nepotism marked the 10 years of the Congress government,” he alleged.

Listing out the achievements of the NDA government, he said Rs 3.10 lakh crore was earned through coal mine auctions held in a transparent manner. He reiterated that there was room for corruption and middlemen system under the Modi government.

Referring to Union government’s Give it Up, he said there was change in mindset of people and was hence foregoing the subsidy being offered on LPG connections.
