Vizianagaram: Though he is a public servant in a high position with a busy schedule, he is interested in spending his leisure time with students of government schools to motivate them towards social service. He distributes books and study material to those who are taking up competitive exams. His children study in a government school. Deputy Commissioner of Excise and Prohibition department is a role model to others n government service and also in other professions.

K Chaitanya Murali, hails from a middle class family in Guntur district and was selected for 1995 Batch Group-1 service and assumed charge as Assistant Excise Superintendent and was promoted as Deputy Commissioner of Vizianagaram district. He is a hard core follower of Gautama Buddha and even he visits the government schools to spread ideology of Buddha. Though he is preoccupied with his official work continuously, he manages to spend enough time with the students of Zilla Parishad schools to educate them in several aspects.

Murali, distribute thousands of books to the needy students and also teaches them on to master a particular subject and what to do to become a public servant. Apart from this, Murali has written books on Buddha and others. Now a days, where parents dare not to admit their children in government schools and are sending them to private and corporate schools for better education Chaitanya Murali has admitted his daughter Mayavathi and son Kanshiram in municipal school of Vizianagaram.

Even he likes to ride on bi cycle instead of driving a car. Speaking on these issues Murali says “Who said that the standards in government schools are inferior to private schools. All the top bureaucrats and eminent professionals like doctors, advocates, and academicians are the students of government schools and colleges only. Now my children have a good opportunity to observe the several levels of society by studying in municipal schools. Let them know the several layers in society.

They go to school by bicycle and enjoy the company of other children there. I don’t like to maintain ‘social status’ in my personal life. I want to see them as a common boy and girl, let them stand on their own legs and achieve good positions,” he said. All the top bureaucrats and public representatives should send their children to government schools and to enhance the standards of those institutions on par with private schools, he said.

Apart from that he likes to grow plants where ever possible even in his office and excise station premises. Murali said that he has distributed around two lakh saplings in his service so far and he has planted many saplings in excise station of Vizianagaram town and installed solar power system in all excise station in Nellore when he was the DC of that district. His wife also participates in all social service programmes that he conducts.
