Vastralatha complex, Krishnaveni textile complex and other shops remained closed due to the bandh call given by traders. Most of the shops on BRP Road, Chitti Nagar, Samarangam Chowk, Brahmin street and other areas remained opened and trading activities continued as usual.
Vastralatha traders association and other associations on Tuesday called for a bandh on Wednesday as rumours spread that Vinayaka temple located on Canal road would be demolished by VMC at any time. The Congress had opposed the demolition of temples.
