Hyderabad: Minister for Medical and Health services Kamineni Srinivas is all set to inaugurate his chambers at the temporary Secretariat in Velagapudi on Monday, which happens to be Amavasya.

Medical and Health department officials said that the Minister had to visit Delhi on a task assigned by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and missed his date of inauguration. He was to inaugurate his office along with Ministers Ch Ayyanna Patrudu and K Mrunalini on June 29.

On his return from Delhi, the Minister had told to senior officials that he wanted to occupy his chamber on July 4. However, the officials flagged red to the proposed move citing that the day falls on the inauspicious Amavasya. They said that no one prefers to do anything new, let alone occupying chamber as it brings bad luck and curse.

However, the Minister had told the officials that he does not believe in such superstitions and added “Jinx suits well, it always brought me luck.” He asked the officials to schedule the ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday.

Left with no option, the officials had to scout for an astrologer to fix the best available auspicious muhurtham on an inauspicious Amavasya day.

On the other hand Minister for Transport Siddha Raghava Rao has a different take from that of his counterpart. Raghava Rao, who is known for his strict adherence to auspicious muhurhams is seeking the same to relocate his office to Velagapudi. B “The Minister feels that the current month of Mudham would bring bad luck to his department and its functioning.

So, he differed shifting and is waiting for auspicious movements to relocated,” said an official from the Transport department. Sources said that the Minister had decided to relocate to Velagapudi in the second phase of shifting before September 12.
