Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao came down heavily on the YSRCP allegations against him that he had admitted spending Rs 11 crore for his assembly election.

Addressing the media on Saturday, Kodela Sivaprasada Rao clarified that he had merely stated the increase in the importance of money in the elections.

He further explained that NTR had called him and gave a ticket to contest but he had won the election by spending Rs 30,000 in 1983. The Speaker said that the importance of money has increased in the elections.

YSRCP petitioned to the Election Commission on the basis of a news report that Kodela Sivaprasada Rao had himself admitted to spending over Rs 11 crore for his election and hence should be disqualified for violating the election norms.
