AYUSH asks AP govt to return all equipment

Chittoor: The Panchkarma Super Specialty Hospital that was sanctioned by the government in the united Andhra Pradesh about six years ago to provide quality medical services in ayurveda is yet to take off.

The super specialty hospital was allocated Rs 10.0 lakh for constructing a temporary hospital building. Apart from it, the Ayurveda, Unani, Sidda and Homeopathy (AYUSH) had also sanctioned 10 Beds, an X-ray unit, oxygen equipment and other related infrastructure for opening the PSS Hospital at Chittoor.

But thanks to the neglect of the concerned authorities, no such hospital has been established so far. It is now learnt that the AYUSH is said to be disinterested in this regard. As a result, the machinery, equipment, furniture including the X- ray apparatus is lying idle and unused.

Nalini Mohan, the then Commissioner for AYUSH who had visited the hospital had expressed her shock over keeping the valuable equipment unused for several years. She instructed the Chief Medical Officer, Chittoor Government Ayurvedic Dispensary to return all the equipment to AYUSH since it was unused for years.

While there is good demand for ayurveda here neither the elected represented representatives nor the Chittoor mayor or even the MP, MLA, ZP chairperson and Collector Siddharth Jain are not aware of the proposal to set up the Ayush super specialty hospital.

He said that all the equipment meant for the proposed PKSS Hospital has been kept idle which has already become defunct fully or partly. “We are awaiting the orders from the Commissioner, AYUSH for returning the equipment and the furniture as the purpose of the equipment worth Rs 50.0 lakh has not been served. He said the Government has expended Rs. 10.0 lakh for constructing a temporary building to the proposed hospital,” he added.
