ASI mowed down by private bus
According to police, Jonnada Dhanaraj (58), ASI of Peravali police station, attended to patrolling duty on NH-16 on Saturday night. In the wee hours of Sunday, he he was mowed down by a private bus, while crossing the road.
Tanuku: An Assistant Sub Inspector of Police was killed in a road accident on National Highway near Peravali village in West Godavari district on Sunday.
According to police, Jonnada Dhanaraj (58), ASI of Peravali police station, attended to patrolling duty on NH-16 on Saturday night. In the wee hours of Sunday, he he was mowed down by a private bus, while crossing the road.
Police sources said that the driver did not stop the bus after the mishap and the patrolling party had to chase the vehicle for 10 kilometers, and took take the driver into custody.
Dhanraj, a 1979 batch recruitee, was due for promotion. His last rites were performed with police honours at Tanuku. SP Bhaskar Bhushan, additional SP N Chandrasekhar and other police officials paid homage to the deceased.
