Ramagiri (Anantapur): Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha has asked people to take an active part in tree plantation in response to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's call to transform the district and State into a green land.

Participating in the ‘Vanam-Manam’ programmes at Nasannakota and Gangampalli villages in Ramagiri mandal on Saturday, Sunitha stated that trees induce rains and rains transform a place into a prosperous land.

Sunitha asked students to plant trees in the premises of schools and colleges and government hostels, offices and hospitals in the district.The Minister said that it is the vision of the Chief Minister to plant 1 crore trees in the State and make the State drought-free.

Later, the fair price shop dealers felicitated the Minister for hiking their commissions. Sarpanch Venkatamma, Chief Conservator of Forests Sreedhar and Divisional Forest Officer Chandrasekhar were present.
