Name Benz Circle flyover after Deendayal says BJP

Vijayawada: BJP was getting ready to leave its impression on the city by naming yet-to-be constructed prestigious flyover after its ideologue Pundit Deendayal Upadhyaya.

A delegation of the BJP’s youth wing, Yuva Morcha vice-president Chikkala Rajanikanth, along with Yuva Morcha Vijayawada unit president M Venkateswara Rao, met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in Delhi on Friday.

Rajanikanth submitted a representation to the Union Minister emphasising the need to name the new flyover after the party’s ideologue. They tried to impress upon the Union Minister that naming the Benz Circle flyover after Deendayal would be an honour to the late leader whose birth centenary is being celebrated across the country.

Interestingly, the party MP from Narasapur, Gokaraju Gangaraju, had endorsed the request and appealed to the Union Minister to consider the request positively.

The Telugu Desam leaders from the city have been working hard to realise the long-pending demand and sitting MP Kesineni Srinivas did a lot of home work to get the flyover sanctioned. He had even secured extension of the flyover up to Loyola College Junction.

The flyover, which connects the two national highways in the city, is seen as an important development for the city as it eases the traffic woes.

The TDP leaders were getting ready for the foundation ceremony for the flyover, which is likely to b e held after the Krishna Pushkaralu. With the BJP pitching in to get the prestigious flyover named after its leader, it is to be seen how the TDP would react.
