Rayadurgam (Anantapur): Minister for Health and district in-charge Kamineni Srinivas and Civil Supplies Minister Paritala Sunitha called upon the people of Rayadurgam, which was in the verge of desertification to heed the call of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to do their mite in transforming the State into a 'Haritha Andhra Pradesh' .

Participating in tree plantation drive on the Kanchanapalle hill top and at Rachmarri village in Kanekal mandal here on Friday, the Ministers said that it was heartening to see hundreds of trees planted in a region, which was showing signs of desertification.

Srinivas said that one can fight natural disasters by planting trees. He lauded local MLA Kalava Sreenivasulu for undertaking what seemed to be a mission impossible in a desert like conditions.

The in-charge Minister also congratulated the people of the district for succeeding in the farm ponds mission. Minister Sunitha called upon every home to plant 10 trees in their village.

Government chief whip Kalava Srnivasulu, who presided over the Vanam Manam programme said that 70 per cent of trees planted so far had survived. He said that by August 15th 3 lakh trees would dot the landscape of Rayadurgam constituency.
