Mudragada serves ultimatum to government
He called upon the community to get ready for a struggle if the government did not go ahead with the inclusion of the Kapu community in the BC list by August-end.
Pithapuram: Kapu leader and former Minister Mudragada Padmanabham on Saturday served an ultimatum to the State government of reviving his struggle to secure the rights of the Kapu community if it fails to honour the assurances by the August-end.
He called upon the community to get ready for a struggle if the government did not go ahead with the inclusion of the Kapu community in the BC list by August-end.
After launching the membership drive of the Kapu Ikya Vedika in Pithapuram constituency here, he announced constitution of Joint Action Committees (JACs) in all districts. These committees would be ready for launching struggles.
Former Minister Koppana Mohana Rao presided over the meeting. Padmanabham demanded adoption of a resolution by the State Assembly on the Manjunath Commission and its inclusion in the IX Schedule of the Constitution.
He criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, stating that the latter was getting provoked when told about the need for hounouring the assurances made by the government.
The Kapu leader expressed anguish over the harassment being caused to the community.Padmanabham handed over the first JAC membership to Adarsh Engineering College correspondent Burra Anubabu and an assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the family of Kapu leader Chekkupalli Ramana who was killed recently in a road accident.
He announced assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to Kapu activists either killed or injured during the recent agitation for achieving the demands of the community and handed over scholarships to students of the constituency who secured 10 GPA in SSC examination.
Kapu Sadbhavana Sangham State leader Vasireddy Esudasu, Bojja Ayyalu, Kondepudi Sankara Rao, Gandeti Sriramamurthy were also present at the meeting.
