Tirupati: A Go Green Day was observed by the students of Sri Venkateswara Children’s High School (SVCHS) here on Sunday to sensitise
the children on the importance of protecting environment by planting saplings.

The children dressed up in green attires took out a rally, raising slogans stressing on the benefits of promoting greenery. Later, they
planted saplings on the school premises. They also took an oath to change the environment and make it pollution-free.

Speaking on the occasion, SVCHS secretary K S Vasu said the event was organised to cultivate the habit of protecting nature among
students. He said the students have decided to put up a stern fight against environmental threats, such as eroding greenery. Towards
achieving this mission, the school organised a Go Green Day on the school premises by plating saplings, he added.

Headmistress M V Krishna Kumari said that the programme was organised to make students give their bit so that they make a difference
to the world they live in.

Administrative officer B Chandra spoke about the menacing threat of global warming. He claimed that issues as these could be resolved
with afforestation programmes and using natural resources like water and fuel with prudence.
