A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising Justice Rama Subramanian and Justice Anis on Monday issued directions to the AP government requiring it to frame comprehensive guidelines on criteria of “local status” to enable proper admissions into education institutions.

The bench granted 15 days time to the government to comply with the order. The order is made in a writ plea filed by M Priyadarshini who complained that the authorities were not treating her as a local candidate for the Andhra University Area.

She complained that under the recent Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Order 2016 though she is from Hyderabad, she would have to be treated as a local candidate in Andhra Pradesh.
