Thousands of pilgrims took  a holy dip in the rivers Akhanda Gowthami, Godavari and Vasistha in Kovvuru and Narsapuram divisions, as part of the Antya Pushkaralu of Godavari river in West Godavari district on Monday. 

Eluru: Thousands of pilgrims took a holy dip in the rivers Akhanda Gowthami, Godavari and Vasistha in Kovvuru and Narsapuram divisions, as part of the Antya Pushkaralu of Godavari river in West Godavari district on Monday.

No politicians or VIPs were seen at the pushkaralu on second day, but a turnout of 45,000 pilgrims was estimated.

In Kovvuru, hundreds of pilgrims took holy dip in the river at Goshpada Kshetram Ghat and offered prayers to the river.

Elders, children showed enthusiasm in participating in the holy bath. The pilgrims visited the temples on the banks of the river and offered prayers.

In Narsapuram, a heavy turnout of pilgrims was witnessed in various ghats in the town. The pilgrims, after taking a holy bath in the river Vasishta offered prayers to the river and visited various temples on the banks of the river.

Some of the pilgrims took shower bath arranged in the ghats of Valadhara revu, Vasishta and NTR ghats. Even though the Vasistha river was flowing with flood water, the pilgrims mostly showed interest to take a holy bath in the river water.

In Sidhantham, about 7,000 pilgrims took a holy dip in the river Godavari. The pilgrims after the holy dip had a darshan at Kedareswara Swamy temple and offered prayers in the temple.

In Pattiseema, the ghats appeared with almost a deserted look. The nearby villagers took holy bath in the river. Elderly persons visited Pattiseema ghat.
