Pressurise Centre: Karat
CPM politburo member Prakash Karat said that the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should mount pressure on the Centre to achieve special category status for the State. He said that Naidu should bear in mind about being answerable to people.

Speaking to press persons here on Monday, he appealed to the TDP cadres to work in tandem with the Opposition by participating in demonstrations to the exert pressure on the Centre over the special status.
While acknowledging that the State had suffered heavy losses due to the bifurcation, he demanded Prime Minister fulfil his promise made to the State during the 2014 poll campaign. “It is the responsibility of the Centre to honour its own promise of granting special status to the State,” he added.
On setting up nuclear power plant in the State, he argued why the Centre was hell-bent on setting up the same plant when it was rejected by Gujarat and West Bengal governments. He alleged that it was only due to the support extended by the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu the Centre was going ahead with the proposal.
The CPM leader held the BJP government responsible for the rising attacks on Dalits and Muslims in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, West Bengal and Haryana.
