Kakinada: Universities should help generate new ideas among students, opined district collector H Arun kumar. He participated in a national-level workshop on Research Concepts and Incubating Ideas on IoT organised at JNTU, here on Wednesday.

Collector maintained that 60 per cent of GDP is from agriculture and called upon the need to apply Internet of things (IoT) to help farmers achieve better production.

Prof.V S S Kumar vice-chancellor of JNTU-K said that mobile technology would do wonders. “Introduction of biometric system in colleges and utilisation of libraries are the results of IoT in the varsities. The incubation centre in the campus would help students to become entrepreneurs,” he averred.

Prof. P Vijaya Prakash vice chairman of AP State Council for Higher Education said that efforts were on to make the State a knowledge hub. He suggested the varsities to use technology to increase connectivity among various varsities. Rector Prof B Prabhakara Rao, registrar GVR Prasada Raju and others were present.
