Rajamahendravaram: The five-day workshop on Emerging Trends in Commerce and Management Studies, aimed to train the trainers who in turn would guide students, appearing for CA examination through Certificate Programme on Accountancy (CPA) at the Adikavi Nannaya University concluded on Tuesday.

Nannaya University organised this programme in coordination with the University of Virgin Islands (UVI), USA. Prof S Teki was the Director of the five-day workshop.

Registered students can undergo this course which is designed by UVI with latest technology of Moodle, a learning management system able to create classroom environment online. Moodle will change the teaching methodology, thus, enabling the student to think in an innovative way.

Nannaya University invited Dr Dion Gowus from the University of Virgin Islands to train the commerce and accountancy lecturers from various UG and PG colleges of East and West Godavari districts.

Spontaneous response came from the participants. The CPA course combined with three-year commerce degree course of any Indian University will be treated as equivalent to four-year degree course of USA.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dion Gowus said that the UVI would cooperate with the Nannaya University in research and software development.

He further said that steps were being taken to set up e-training system in classrooms in order to provide real life experience to students. India is the hub of intellectuals and other countries can learn from India, he averred.

In the changing scenario, there is high demand for CPA professionals rather than the conventional ICWA. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof M Mutyalu Naidu addressed the gathering in the valedictory session and announced that the University would launch the CPA programme in its campus soon.

Prof I V Murali Krishna (Retd) from JNTUH, Hyderabad played a crucial role in bringing Prof Gowus, all the way from the UIV to here.

Vice Chancellor & Registrar of the Nannaya University congratulated all the participants for attending the orientation programme.
