Speaking to press persons here on Wednesday, he said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was resolute on fulfilling his pre-poll promise of spending Rs 500 crore towards the Brahmin welfare before 2019 elections.

He inaugurated the Brahmin Service Centre at Seethampeta in Rajamahendravaram on Wednesday. He informed that the corporation had added three more welfare schemes in addition to earlier seven welfare programmes.

Under Bhargava Community partnership scheme, he explained that if the community came forward and constructed any community hall or any other building, the Corporation would sanction 50 per cent of grant.

He further stated that the new scheme `Srikrishna Sudama Dana Nidhi’ scheme would encourage patronage among Brahmins and people who wants to donate for poor Brahmins as they could send their donations, contributions to the Nidhi and Corporation would spend for the same for the right people.

Under this, the minimum amount one can give for donation would be Rs 1 lakh, and there is no maximum limit for donations, he added. He mentioned that the third scheme would be Akshaya Brahmin Nidhi under which donations would be accepted from Rs 100 to Rs 1 lakh through demand drafts, cheques and online.

He admitted that `Chanukya’ scheme, which is having bank linkage, is facing problems with banks and poor Brahmin youth not getting loans in time. He said he had instructed all the lead bank managers on the issue, and had also requested district collectors to monitor the same.
