KVR Government College to reopen hostel for Intermediate students

Kurnool: National Commission for Scheduled Castes member P M Kamalamma said the KVR Government College for Women will reopen the hostel for Intermediate students tomorrow.

Speaking at a press conference at State guest house here on Thursday, Kamalamma said that the closure of hostel at KVR College had inconvenienced Intermediate students.

She hailed Dalit icon Babasaheb Ambedkar for bringing forth Article 338 for safeguarding the rights of SCs and STs and commended the State government efforts in protecting the constitutional rights of downtrodden sections.

Kamalamma said that she had received over 200 petitions during her north and south India tours. She said that she had asked district Collectors concerned to prepare an action plan for redressing the grievances.

Kamalamma instructed the officials concerned to take steps to digitise land records as the digitisation project in the district had hit a roadblock.

She instructed Collector Ch Vijay Mohan to provide water and electricity facilities at Rajeev Swagruha housing units. Deputy Director, Social Welfare, Prasad Rao, members of SC, ST Monitoring Cell and others were present.
