Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that Telugu Desam government is sanctioning adequate funds to the BC Federations for the welfare and upliftment of Backward Classes in the State.

He was the chief guest at the swearing in ceremony of the chairman and directors of the six BC federations at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium on Thursday.

Addressing on the occasion, Chief Minister announced that the State government allocated Rs.195 crore to the 10 BC federations for the year 2016-17.

Giving details of the allocation, Naidu said Rs.32 crore was allocated to Washermen federation, Rs.32 crore allocated Nayee Brahmana Samakhya, Rs.22 crore to Vaddera Samakhya, Rs.16.50 crore to Uppara Samakhya and Rs.16.50 crore to Boya and Valmiki Samakhya.

The CM further said the government allocated Rs.10 crore to Krishna Balija Samakhya, Rs.10 crore to Bhatraju Samakhya, Rs.22 crore to Kummari Samakhya, Rs.22 crore to Viswa Brahmana Sahakara Corporation and Rs.12 crore to Medara Finance Corporation.

He informed that previous Congress government earmarked only Rs.33 crore for the development of backward classes through the finance corporations in its ten-year rule.

Naidu said that potters, gold smiths and barbers are in deplorable condition due to advent of technology in the last few years. He assured the BCs that the government will sanction adequate funds to purchase modern machinery so that they can re-build their lives.

He said barbers will get loans for setting up modern beauty parlours and Vadderas will be sanctioned loans with subsidy to buy modern tools. He said the government will give subsidy to the washermen to buy modern washing machines.
