Kurnool: Minister for Irrigation Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao assured that all the pending projects would be completed with a budget of Rs 16, 000 crore, while addressing a press conference, here on Saturday.

The Minister said around 6.3 tmc feet of water would be supplied to the four districts of Rayalaseema for irrigation and drinking water by integrating the Godavari water with Krishna River.

He further said that 900 cusecs of water was released to Hundri Neeva through three pumps and opined that Rayalaseema would be transformed into a Horticulture Hub as well as Rathanalaseema through Hundri-Neeva and Galari-Nagari projects.

Devineni said government will gain confidence of farmers by supplying water to one lakh acres through Thotipalli project and assured that government will ensure every drop of water reaches cultivable lands.

The police, revenue and the irrigation department staff would be deployed to monitor the misuse of water. Besides this the government is striving to extend water to the last ayacut lands, he added. The Minister also said that all the project works are taking place at jet speed and the Mucchumarri lift irrigation project would be renamed as Seema Project.

All the ponds in the State would be filled with water with a cost of Rs.2 Crores. Mr. Uma said this year crops have been planted in an extent of 25 lakh hectares and the Chief Minister is continuously monitoring the water levels in the reservoirs, he stated.

He said the government would see the four districts in Rayalaseema would bag the first position in agriculture sector and said the Chief Minister N.Chandrababu Naidu has determined to make the district as draught free under Neeru-Chettu program.
