Vijayawada: The police department on Saturday officially announced no-vehicle zone in and around the Prakasam Barrage, bathing ghats and Pandit Nehru Bus Station complex during the Krishna Pushkaralu.

Pushkaralu special officer and DIG Vizag range Ch Srikanth told the press persons on Saturday that no-vehicle zone will be strictly implemented during the Pushkaralu. As part of the instructions, pedestrians will not be allowed on the Prakasam Barrage besides ban on vehicular traffic.

The officials arranged 122 parking lots in and around the city. Heavy vehicles parking lots are Zakir Hussain College, Siddhartha Engineering College, Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Y V Rao estates and Ibrahimpatnam A Colony. These parking lots are very important to check traffic congestion in the city.

The pilgrims have to park their vehicles at these places and have to go to bathing ghats by RTC buses. The officials have already announced that buses will be operated to all the bathing ghats from these parking lots.

Chittinagar tunnel will be used for one way traffic. Special officer Ch Srikanth said that the tunnel route would be used for those vehicles which venture out of the city.

Pilgrims after taking bath in Punnami Ghat, Durga Ghat, Gollapudi Ghat and other ghats upstream the Prakasam Barrage and wanted to go towards Eluru Road, MG Road, Ramavarappadu ring, Nunna, Nuzvid, Vizag can use this tunnel road.

Milk Project fly-over bridge will be used for inflow of traffic from Elur Road, Bandar Road, Ramavarappadu ring junction, Nunna route, Nuzvid, Vizag and other areas.

Vehicles can pass via Milk Project flyover and can reach the bathing ghats upstream the Prakasam Barrage. Pilgrims visiting the ghats downstream the Prakasam Barrage can take bath at Padmavathi and krishnaveni Ghats located near the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation office. DCP Traffic Kranthi Rana, T V Nagaraju, Additional DCP were present at the press conference.
